Torture..well...

Mixed views in the Bar on this one.
There is the end justifies the means lobby.

Then we have the Liberal..we are civilised countries in the West and must behave accordingly, stance.

On 9/11 there were some 3000 innocent people murdered, plus countless orphans, widows and widowers created

Call it knee jerk reaction,if it saved another killing spree, however small, there is some justification.

One can be too liberal, too civilised, when facing a primitive ideal.

UKIP now have clear run to Victory

David Cameron has torn up his plan to cap EU immigration after German Chancellor Angela Merkel vetoed it, it was claimed today.
Mrs Merkel warned the Prime Minister that if he tried to scrap European freedom of movement she would stop trying to keep Britain in the EU, German government sources have claimed.
Trying to cap the number of EU workers allowed into Britain would be a ‘point of no return’ for Mrs Merkel, the German newspaper Der Spiegel has claimed.

Jim Murphy,Labours hope for Scotland

The favourite in the race to become Labour’s new leader in Scotland is embroiled in a bitter row with Ed Miliband over who will take charge of the party’s Scottish campaigns.
Jim Murphy, tipped to lead Labour’s fightback against the Scottish Nationalists, has told Ed Miliband he will refuse to work with fellow Scots-born Shadow Cabinet heavyweight Douglas Alexander.
Allies of Mr Murphy say Mr Alexander is a ‘campaigns flop’ and want him to ‘stop meddling in the Labour Party in Scotland’.

EU farce: Fury as Brussels limit British anglers to ONE sea bass a day ANGLERS who catch and keep more than one sea bass a day could be fined under new EU rules. By: Jane MathewsPublished: Sat, November 1, 2014 Facebook 33 Sea bassExperts say the population of sea bass is rapidly declining [GETTY] The first catch limits for recreational anglers are being considered by the European Commission in a bid to tackle a sharp decline in numbers of the fish. However, critics say that the problem is being caused by commercial fishermen, in particular the French, landing huge catches of the species, The Times has reported. Stocks have fallen by 40 per cent in the last four years, and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea has recommended an 80 per cent reduction in sea bass catches in the EU. Fishermen off the coast of Cornwall Fishermen off the coast of Cornwall [GETTY] It's a bit like trying to reduce road deaths from speeding by targeting cyclists rather than drivers The council, which reviews fish stocks, also warned that the species could be "on the verge of collapse". The Angling Trust said that the proposed one-fish limit, which would apply to more than 200,000 anglers who fish from boats around the British coast, was "grossly disproportionate". Spokesman Martin Salter disputed claims made by the European Commission that anglers accounted for 30 per cent of sea bass catches, claiming the figure was around half of that. He accused the commission of "targeting the people least responsible", adding: "It's a bit like trying to reduce road deaths from speeding by targeting cyclists rather than drivers." The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has declined to comment on whether they would support a limit on the number of sea bass an individual is allowed to catch. Specific parts of Britain ARE being swamped by migrants, David Blunkett insists today.
Writing in the Daily Mail, the former Labour Home Secretary backs claims made by Defence Secretary Michael Fallon.
Mr Blunkett says politicians cannot simply avoid the issue and Mr Fallon was right to ‘voice the concerns of ordinary voters’.
He warns of increasing public fears about immigration and says those who claim a large influx of migrants does not create problems are living in a ‘fantasy land’.

Formula 1 in trouble as teams bale out

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says two more teams are in danger of collapse

Battle lines are being drawn as F1 reacts to the crisis of collapsing teams and the prospect of even further dwindling car counts.
However, Red Bull consultant Dr. Helmut Marko declared unequivocally ahead of the U.S. Grand Prix, "We are ready."
He was referring to the concept of three-car teams, as he admitted that it might cost the sport's big players up to $30 million each.
The mood ahead of the U.S. Grand Prix is therefore dramatically tense, with some declaring it the sport's latest crisis following the financial collapse of the backmarkers Marussia and Caterham.  That may be just the tip of the iceberg, according to F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, who said the current 18-car grid could actually dwindle by a  two teams.
"It could go down to 14 [cars]," he said.
Trackside in Austin, the situation is rapidly deteriorating from the initial shock to obvious anger, as the next most endangered teams -- reportedly Sauber, Force India and Lotus -- threaten to boycott Sunday's race in protest of the increasingly inequitable balance of power.

Excellent article by Daily Mail Columnist

A guy in the bar said...read this....Often, I despair of David Cameron’s efforts to secure a Conservative victory in next May’s general election.
For example, he seems determined to ignore one golden opportunity — the sort Margaret Thatcher thrived on.
I refer to the chance he has to exploit widespread public fury over the European Commission’s demand that Britain pays another £1.7 billion to its bloated budget and the anger over the EU’s free movement of people laws which have encouraged mass immigration.
When Mr Cameron first promised an in/out referendum on Europe, he said it would be held in 2017. This was, he said, to allow time for a re-negotiation — but the date has another significance.
According to his friends, he had identified it as just before the time when, if still Prime Minister, he would want to quit Downing Street and leave his successor to deal with the consequences of the referendum
